Singapore - Day 3 Flower Dome

 Flower Dome

We walked into the largest greenhouse in the world prepared to be amazed. We were. Its relatively cool and dry climate provided a welcome relief from the humidity and heat outside. Eight gardens display plants from five continents.  Maybe we were just lucky to visit on a day when the gardens weren't crowded with tourists.

The roof is free standing meaning no columns cast unwanted shade on the plants. Thousands of specially coated glass panels let in light while reducing the amount of heat passing through the roof.  Click here to read more about the remarkable technology employed to maintain the environments inside the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.

Kei-Chan - "a girl in a polka dot dress transports the viewer to a safe world of innocence and positive thinking..."

Numerous friendly bunnies hop about the Japanese island  Ōkunoshima better known as Rabbit Island.

These colorful rocks are actually juicy African plants disguised to look like stones. They are called stone plants, of course.
