No Kings Day

We joined No Kings Day demonstrators at Murdock Circle and US41 in Port Charlotte around 8:30 AM. Many more poured in to line US 41 and Murdock Circle for the 9 to 11 protest.  A large number of homemade signs, clever in the making, greeted passing motorists. Some honked and thumbed up; others acted indifferent and just a few were nasty. All attending were peaceful.

Lunch at the Riviera

Rob and Sue Linehan's days on the water, at least in the their own boat, are quickly coming to an end.  One last time,  they offered to take our Friendship Force members for a cruise to the Riviera Bar and Grill on Alligator Creek for lunch.  As we cruised down the rim canal under a clear blue sky, I wondered if  this would be the last time Joanne & I would be on the rim canal.  We arrived at the Riviera and docked without incident to enjoy a great meal.  Richard had the traditional fried shrimp basket, always the best.

Michele and Richard have a beer each.

Coming back on a sunny and calm day, Rob decided to take us out Alligator Creek and run up Charlotte Harbor to Ponce. All went well until the engine acted like it wasn't getting fuel. Eventually, less than a mile from Ponce, Rob gave up, throughout the anchor and called Towboat US

After about an hour, a tow boat out of Burnt Store showed to tow us to the Linehan's dock safe and sound.  Once Rob has the fuel issue squared away, he plans to take the grandkids for a ride before the boat is trailered up to Ingman Marine to be sold. Many thanks to Rob and Sue for sharing their time on the water with us.
