Moving

Driving back to Texas January 18th, I thought we would have lots of free time to workout at the Southshore Fitness Center, wander around the Waterford Marina, peruse the going out of business Blue Water Ships Store, eat at our favorite restaurants and of course spend time with old friends. Wrong! We did visit some and eat out some but mostly we worked everyday packing and cleaning.
And we didn't close!

Lots of stuff went to the Woman's Crisis Center and Goodwill. Some furniture we sold to the Bargain Barn in Dickinson and some went to Hidden Treasures, a consignment shop on NASA Rd . Some boat stuff went to Boater's Resale in Clear Lake Shores. My brother, Bart, drove down from Killeen to load our refrigerator and bedroom set on his trailer. We gave a few things to friends. But a lot more stuff stuffed a U Haul trailer, our car and a Mayflower van. I guess we are owned by our possessions.

Back to food. We managed to stop at Pat's of Henderson in Lake Charles LA both coming and going for great Cajun food. If you are traveling from Houston to Florida, don't miss it! Our friends, Douglas and Kat recommended Bimini Bob's located on the east side of Mobile Bay. We stopped to lunch. Excellent recommendation. During breaks from packing, we did eat out with old friends at the Texas Road House and at Mely's, my favorite Mexican restaurant. I went sailing with Kat & Doug and Joanne took in Wonderland at the Alley with the New Life women.

...
Now we are back in Punta Gorda. The Mayflower van should arrive on Tuesday and we are now scheduled to close by remote on Friday afternoon. Hey!

Punta Gorda Eagles

Yesterday Joanne & I rode our bicycles to the History Park to observe the Punta Gorda eagles.
Last year, the eagles left when a storm blew their nest down. They have now returned to improve upon an abandoned horned owl's nest and raise a family. Photographers gather each day a measured distance away from home tree to capture moments of the eagle's daily lives.

One baby or two? No one knows for sure. Stay posted for updates.

257 Lido

Rather than fix up an old house we decided to build a new one here in Punta Gorda Iles! We purchased a "key lot" on sailboat water with reasonably quick access to Charlotte Harbor through the Ponce Inlet. Click on the Goggle Earth picture to the right to see our lot.

The builder is currently working on changes to an existing design required to fit a house on our key shaped lot. We expect to start construction the end of February. Watch the house go up here in pictures and words over the next six months as we build our new home.
