Viking Neptune - More Bergen

September 12 - Before dragging our bags down Byrggen along the harbor past tourist shops to Viking Jupiter to check-in we continued with Rick Steve's Walk.

The Seafarer's Monument at the head of Torgallmenningen or "square for all people" which is not square at all as seen below.  The monument celebrates all social classes who made a living from the sea and this is where our morning's walk began  .

This slab at the end of the "square" is a monument to King Olav V. Joanne is standing in front of the National Theater. The next day on Viking's "Included" bus tour of the city, Joanne photographed Henrik Ibsen in front of the theater.

                                                            Ole Bulls Plass
From the theater, we walked down  Ole Bulls Plass  to the statue of Ole Bull himself.

Gazebo and Lake
Just across the street, flowers ring a gazebo. And just beyond lies a little lake with fountain. We returned to a shopping mall on Torgallmenningen so that Joanne could buy pajamas that she thought she forgot to pack.  We found the Bergen Cathedral closed before we returned to the hotel to check out and then headed to the Viking Neptune

September 13 - We joined the Viking "Included" bus tour in the morning.  We stopped for photo ops near the ferry dock and a peek at  the Nykirken church with its Baptismal Angel.

Guide from Italy - FUN!

Bryggens Photo Op

Our guide led us on a quick tour through Bryggens, home for the long ago Hanseatic merchants, and then back to the boat.

Rubber Ducks for Tourists

After the tour, we visited Bryggens Museum I found the well done exhibit on the Laws of the Land very interesting.

We decided to give the Bergen Cathedral another try and found it open this time.
